Gina OgdenGina Ogden, PhD, LMFT, has developed the Four-Dimensional Wheel approach over four decades of sex therapy practice and has supervised and encouraged numerous health professionals, including all of the current 4-D Wheel Practitioners. She is author of the books that define the Four-Dimensional Wheel approach and of the only national survey to investigate sexuality and spirituality.

She is also a shamanic practitioner who has incorporated ceremonial principles into the 4-D Wheel core dynamics, to help clients and practitioners access subtle dimensions of sexual experience. Gina is recipient of the 2013 AASECT award for Professional Excellence, and of the 2014 AASECT Book award, for Expanding the Practice of Sex Therapy.

Kamara McAndrewsKamara McAndrews, MA, LMFT, is a gifted 4-D Wheel Practitioner and Supervisor who has co-led Four-Dimensional Wheel trainings and retreats with Gina at Esalen Institute since 2011. She incorporates many modalities into her 4-D Wheel therapy and supervision, including Mindfulness, Sensate Focus, Gestalt, Family Systems, Imago dialog, Cognitive Behavioral therapy and various approaches to differentiation. Kamara is also a belly dancer and belly dance instructor—skilled in reading body language and helping clients and supervisees become aware of how the physical quadrant relates to emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions.

Tina NevinTina Nevin is a registered nurse-midwife, certified sex counselor and educator, and sexologist at a cancer rehabilitation team in Sweden. She co-leads 4-D Wheel trainings in Mexico with Gina. Tina has worked with sexual health and rights issues in Sweden and Africa and has lived and studied in Canada, where she became part of a First Nation family in Nova Scotia. When encountering the Wheel for the first time, she saw the similarity to the traditional ways of the Medicine Wheel, and found ways to bring the 4-D Wheel into her work. She is author of Pussypedia, What Every Woman Needs to Know about her Genitals, and has generously donated a copy for download from the RSN website.

Kristin HodsonKristin Hodson, MSW, LCSW, is a psychotherapist in Salt Lake City. She teaches Human Sexuality in Clinical Practice at the University of Utah in the Master of Social Work Program. She integrates the Four-Dimensional Wheel approach with a traditional textbook, giving a multidimensional lens to common issues and concerns within human sexuality. She feels passionate that her students receive education around sexual concerns other than a medical model or a DSM pathology approach. She offers her students 4-D Wheel tools for awareness and for concretizing abstract and complex issues for both clients and therapists. She assigns weekly readings from Expanding the Practice of Sex Therapy, having students think about topics from the four quadrants of mind, body, heart, and spirit, and holds a final 4-D Wheel lab class at the end of the

Chelsea draws from a depth of training in clinical and transpersonal methods and helps people integrate the insights of personal work into daily living. She has a passion for supporting women in developing their luminous potential.

“When I met Gina Ogden in 2009, I felt an immediate spiritual connection and philosophical alignment about what makes for “great sex.” Sexuality is about meaning, pleasure and connection rather than functioning body parts, penetrative intercourse, or counting and measuring orgasms. We both do work that is narrative in nature, highly experiential and transformational. After meeting Gina and learning about her model, I immediately incorporated it in the Dialogue work I was doing in sex therapy. I use a simple four card Wheel in my office to help clients experience movement, unpack hidden cognitive and historical material, transcend stuck stories and deepen their process of sexual Self-discovery.”

3123318“After attending my first Four-Dimensional Wheel weekend, I also incorporated the 4-D Wheel altar into my Luminous Woman Weekend, laying out the four-quadrant altar in the center with four quadrants to represent the “umbrella” archetypes of the feminine articulated by Toni Wolff – mother, warrior, lover and mystic. These correspond beautifully to heart, mind, body, and spirit (see attached photo). I leave the center open so that women can step into it and experience all four quadrants at once. I also invite participants to bring symbolic objects, one to represent something they wanted to release and another to represent something they wanted to claim and live into. While the model is wonderfully effective in unpacking and transforming sexual stories, it can be used in discerning or improving integration in any question about life. I am also teacher at the Haden Institute, a Jungian oriented spiritual direction program. Two years ago I adapted the 4-D Wheel handout for the discernment and spiritual integration process I teach, showing Spiritual Guides/Directors how having clients walk the Wheel can quickly reveal images, metaphors, cognitive frames, memories, etc. that may not be unearthed in any other way.”

“Ogden’s notion of working in a wholistic way with the client is brilliant–giving the therapist another option to sitting across the room from each other and talking for months, or even years on end. This innovative approach allows the client to tell their unique story from the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical realms, while the therapist creates an environment of presence and safety–acting as a witness and a guide. Ogden’s practice of sex therapy is based on her national sex survey, which found that sexuality for women was much more than a physical experience. Her research showed that sexuality is multi-dimensional and has magnificent depth, that can, and must be explored. This experiential way of doing therapy can be used as an organizing principle in therapeutic work with individuals, couples and groups.”
